Dodge ZEO concept

The Dodge ZEO concept is designed to break the paradigm of what an electric car should look like. An electric car can be as expressive as any gasoline-powered vehicle.

With its enormous wheel arches, extra-high, receding beltline and sublime colour (christened Zeo Orange, of course), this prototype holds its own against the Chrysler 300C SRT8.

A 6.1 liter HEMI V8 engine is going to powered this ZEO. The 272-horsepower electric motor is powered by a 64-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery that allows the ZEO to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds. That's what the 300C SRT8 can do!

With an estimated 402-kilometre tank range, the ZEO is sure to be a hit, overcoming as it does the biggest disadvantage of 100% electric cars.

For exterior, the ZEO is equipped with four doors. The doors open like scissors on both sides, which probably makes it easier to slide into. A-pillars that curve into extended roof rails and then converge at the rear. The windshield glass extends in a smooth, curved line almost to the rear of the vehicle. All four passengers can thus enjoy a nearly 360-degree view.

Meanwhile for the interior, the sloping centre console flows down from the windshield, dividing the entire passenger compartment as if to define each passenger's personal space. Instead of a conventional dashboard, the steering wheel, steering column and instruments are treated as a single, self-sufficient entity. The steering wheel features two vertical spokes set close together, leaving 80% of the rim free for optimum visibility. A thin blue touch screen is placed directly before the driver, inside the steering wheel hub.
