2009 Nissan GT-R SpecV unveiled

Nissan has officially unveiled its new 2009 GT-R SpecV edition which will make its first public debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon later this week. The new GT-R SpecV promises street-legal race car performance for the everyday enthusiast, a sentiment not to be taken lightly as the flagship of a car which has exceeded all expectations so far.

The SpecV's new exterior features include a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, a carbon-fiber grille, and carbon-fiber brake ducts. The special edition is also available with an exclusive ‘Ultimate Black Opal’ paint scheme – a unique purplish black. Inside, the car comes with only the two front seats, which themselves are special Recaro carbon-fiber buckets. More carbon-fiber is used for the rear center storage box, instrument panel and other trim areas.

The top-of-the-line GT-R's performance is enhanced with a new high gear boost control device. According to Nissan officials, this devise momentarily increases boost of the 3.8-liter V6's twin turbochargers offering greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy.

Sales begin in Japan at seven pre-selected dealers, with pricing set at 15,750,000 yen. There's no word on whether the GT-R SpecV will make the trek across the Pacific, but we're not holding our breath just yet.
